A judged show of 2 and 3 dimensional work
September 4th – October 23rd, 2021
This show will feature art that tells the story of real bridges and lighthouses as well as the symbolism of what bridges and lighthouses represent. All of us have at one time or another said to ourselves “I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it” as a way to focus on here and now and as a way to calm our anxious thoughts. We also, from time to time, think of our plan as a bridge to get us from where we are now to a distant goal that appears difficult to achieve. Just as the beacon of a lighthouse helps boats and ships stay out of trouble while navigating waters at night, we often are sure that keeping our eye on the “beacon” of our well thought out plan will lead us where we want to go and to what we want to achieve. So, not only do bridges allow us to cross bodies of water or rough terrain that would be difficult to cross otherwise, symbolically they lead us to better lives and the ability to determine our own future. Lighthouses keep us safe in real life by pointing out dangers and obstacles to avoid, but symbolically represent guiding and directing us and offering us a way to achieve our goals and aspirations.
